Hi, my name is Chris Maberto and I am a fitness enthusiast, mother and wife. I work full time as a Fitness Director and Personal Trainer of a large, upscale club in the small town of El Dorado Hills, right outside of Sacramento California. I live with my husband of 20 years, my two active teenage boys and my best “gal pal,” my chocolate lab Bella.
My two greatest loves, aside from my family are fitness and cooking. I know what you’re thinking, how can I love fitness while loving to cook? My friends and family can’t understand how I stay so fit with how much I cook. Those who know me well, know that it is because I am committed to a Healthy lifestyle and “practice what I preach.”
While it can be challenging at times, my love of two seemingly opposites inspires me to find ways to allow my two loves to fit together in a way that allows me continue to do both while honoring my goal of living a fit and Healthy lifestyle.
I truly believe that you can “have your cake and eat it” with a little imagination, determination and inspiration. Does that mean that everything I cook is healthy? No way! I also believe that some things just shouldn’t be messed with. That’s why I also adhere to the idea of “everything in moderation” and sometimes flipping the 80/20 rule, but only when it is truly worth it because life is way too short to eat badly.
My goal for this blog is to provide my readers with inspiration in the areas of fitness and healthy eating. I will take traditional recipes and show you how you can lighten them up in a way that will help you be your best you while feeding your family something that they will actually eat. I will also share some of my tried and true personal recipes as well as tips on losing weight and getting fit.
In addition, I will help you get active in a way that works for you. I believe that everyone is unique and that fitness is not a “one size fits all” activity. I’ll show you ways to get fit and healthy at home, outside, in the gym or wherever! I’ll give you regular tips and tricks for eating better, getting fit and just being better overall. But most of all, I will show you how to do it in a way that is family friendly, individualized and realistic. So if want to be a “FitChick Foodie” too, lace up your sneakers and let’s “get cooking!”
